Groobey’s linocut practice acts on a long-standing interest in the British interwar linocuts of Grosvenor School students Sybil Andrews and Cyril Power, taught by Claude Flight who championed linocut as a cheaply obtained material and democratic art form.
'Wrapped Around Your Finger' is part of a new series that tackles the art of navigating domesticity and balancing relationship dynamics. As Groobey riffs on the exigencies of the human condition, her forthright drawings portray an intimate relationship with her wife while at the same time their specificity and humour make them utterly generalisable and relatable.
