This is from a photoshoot with my friend Melissa. She’s holding my hands in the source image.. although it’s not necessary for the painting. I wanted to make a painting where there was more of an interaction between figures. In the process, it became more about the central figures interiority and so the extra set of hands became more imagined and ephemeral. As someone who feels constantly in some kind of ‘Soft struggle’, I liked the ambiguity in the interaction.
