This was from the same photoshoot at Soft Struggle. The first layer of my paintings is always important, its where the events take shape. Often I keep working it and a lot of the initial marks are covered up. This one, I decided, I needed to leave as is. I knew that anything I did more would only take away from her dynamism. I also really loved the way it functions with the other pieces, with various states of ‘finished’ from work to work. I really don’t plan anything beforehand, and so intuition plays a big role.
